Compatibility limits protect the document

• No paragraph reflow, OCR, or scanned-text recognition.
• No editing inside nested Form XObjects or complex content streams.
• No rotated, vertical, clipped, or embedded-font text mutation.
• Deleting supported text is not marketed as forensic redaction.
• Editing can invalidate an existing cryptographic signature.

Does PdfEditorOnlineFree upload my document or edits?

No. Source bytes, rendered previews, text, images, annotations, command history, output bytes, and structural validation stay in your browser.

Why is some existing text read-only?

PDF text is drawing instructions, not paragraphs. Embedded subset fonts, clipping, rotated or vertical text, missing Unicode maps, and complex render modes are preserved but rejected per object because changing them could corrupt or misrepresent the page.

Does editing flatten or rasterize the PDF?

No. Supported existing objects are changed through local PDF editing interfaces, and additions are native text, image, path, annotation, link, or page structures. Export validation blocks unexpected page-image replacement.

What happens if the original font cannot encode my replacement?

Export explains the failure. You can explicitly choose the bundled Noto Sans substitute, which is embedded under the SIL Open Font License. The editor never silently swaps the font.
