English Handprint OCR · Beta
Recognize separated English print-style handwriting from images, image PDFs, or a camera capture while source pages remain in your browser. Correct perspective and contrast, review every word and confidence box, then download a searchable PDF that preserves the visible page plus an aligned text layer. It is not general handwriting or cursive recognition, and uncertain text requires manual correction.
Add clear handprint pages. Original source images are always retained for image-only fallback.

The beta exposes the OCR engine's text suggestion, numeric confidence, pixel and normalized bounding box, and correction state for every recognized word. Tokens below 75% block searchable export until reviewed.
Both PDF modes preserve every processed source page image. Searchable output adds an invisible aligned text layer; it does not substitute visible standard-font text for the handprint.
Deliberately narrow recognition scope
Ordinary English OCR can help with unusually clear block-style handwriting, but it failed historical cursive and cannot support a general handwriting claim. This beta therefore asks you to classify every source page before recognition and preserves a source-image path when the page is out of scope.
Clear, separated, print-style English words with enough pixel detail and simple reading order.
Connected cursive, overlapping words, dense marginalia, and historical scripts are warned and kept in source-image mode.
Non-English and non-Latin scripts are not recognized or auto-detected by this beta.
Drawings, diagrams, equations, and mixed visual content are preserved in the source image and never invented as text.
Low-resolution and empty-recognition pages stop searchable export with clearer-source and 300-DPI guidance.
Permission is explained first. Denial, missing hardware, and mobile suspension keep image/PDF upload available.
The English OCR engine and recognition data are pinned to exact versions, copied to versioned local paths, and published with SHA-256 checksums, provenance, Apache-2.0 and MIT notices.
Review OCR licensesDownload a source-image PDF with no text, a searchable PDF with reviewed positioned text, a TXT transcript, or a JSON confidence report containing every token, bounding box, confidence, review state, warning, output setting, and runtime checksum.
A session supports up to 60 pages and 50 MB per input file. PDF pages render locally at 300 DPI, preprocessing is bounded by the Scan Document pixel limits, and recognition runs sequentially. The OCR component and English data are downloaded on demand and become offline-ready after the browser has cached them.
The broader Handwriting to PDF capability remains blocked because representative cursive/page recognition and confidence calibration did not pass. This route does not change that disposition and never claims cursive or general handwriting recognition.
